After some windy days here in La Paz the weather has calmed and the fishing for yellowtail has been great just South of Muertos Bay. The typical size ranges between 30-40lb with larger fish up to 60lbs mixed in. Fisherman are using mackeral for bait. Pargo are still found at Punta Perico and fisherman are using sardines for bait. Last week Shaun Jensen, his wife Mandy, and friend Casey Cummins caught alot of yellowtail and had alot of filet to take home. Pete and Crissy Teichmann,Chris Ginocchio,Jtreme and Dr.Fonseca fished this week and also caught alot of nice yellowtail and red snapers. Their is still alot of bait around which means as long as their is food their will be fish to catch. The weather and conditions are only getting better so plan your trip and get in on the action.

This week fishing in La Paz was very good. Good sized pargo, yellowtail, and amberjack were caught at both Punta Perico and Punta Arena. Their was some wind a few days but it didn't stop the fish from biting. Fisherman Bill Evans who fishes with us often had nice mixed bag catches. Bring you friends and come down to La Paz and get your fish.

Tortuga Six

Paul Doty, Bob Bergman, Jerry Clements, Ed Manko, Rick Fleming, and Jerry Goldfein fished with Tortuga 9/29-10/2. Sardine bait was limited to small dead at $20 for a 5 gallon bucket full, but live mackerel, baby bonito, and cocinero were all caught and used for tuna and Dorado. Tuna were found between the light house and the southern end of Cerravalo, Dorado were found at the buoys off the light house beach, and the buoys off Muertos. The bite, while not stellar, was none the less happening. Tuna were in the 25-35 pound class and dorado ranged from small non-keepers up to 20 pounds. It was hit and miss most times as there was never a wide open bite for either species. Several marlin and a couple of sailfish were also taken while trolling for Dorado. As usual, Gerardo’s hospitality was first class and Maya’s cooking was excellent. The portions were huge and delicious. Another great fishing trip enjoyed by all…

Hurricane Dora brought with her a great week of fishing.

Hurricane Dora brought with her a great week of fishing. Cloud cover eased the heat a bit but water temps were still warm, about 86 degrees. Winds from the south visited a few days but only brought with it more fish for the fisherman to catch. This weeks fishing made all the fisherman happy with catches of dorado and tuna. Pangas came back to Punta Arena beach loaded with dorado from 15-50lbs and tuna from 20-50lbs. Dorado were scattered around buoys while the tuna hung around the south end of Cerralvo Island. Photos include fisherman from Huntington Beach, CA, Nanette and Rick Zumwalt with one of their dorado, Jake and Justing Knox with their big dorado, Jake and Justin Knox with another days dorado catch, John Kuzmic and Jeff Priest with their catch of dorado, Gale Schenck and Josh Strobel with their tuna, Cassy Murrey and Crissy Teichmann with their big dorado, Crissy Teichmann with her dorado, Cassy Murrey with her tuna and Crissy and Cassy with dorado.
