The weather has been great and the winds are calm.

This weeks fishing has been very good at La Paz's famous Muertos Bay and Cerralvo Island. The weather has been great and the winds are calm. This week produced catches of red snapper at Punta Perico using sardina, dog tooth snapper at Cerralvo Island and small yellowtail at Muertos Bay. Fish report for the week of January 10th to 13th.  This weeks fishing has produced catches of small yellowtail 6-10lb range, dorado 10-15lbs, pargo 10-15lbs and sierra 3-6 lbs.  Most of the fishing has been close to shore around Punta Perico and Las Arenas because of the afternoon winds.  Bait can be found but has been pretty small.  Local fisherman has seen and caught some tuna and yellowtail in the 15-40lb range at the North end of Cerralvo Island but this week the wind has made it difficult to go that far.

John Gimmie of San Diego went fishing with Tortuga Sprotfishing the week of 11/15. Days were warm and sunny 82 deg with no wind to speak of. The water conditions were fair with the color slightly off from the weeks previous storm. As far as fishing, the Dorado bite was non-stop every day with limits between 8-25lbs. Serria were present and boated a few with bottom fish abounding evverywhere. Pargo and Snapper were crashing bait on the topwater with a good chum line of sardines with fish boated at 10lbs.

Regardless of the tropical depression that passed close to La Paz in the past days, the fishing has been good. We have been catching Tunas in the 15 to 30 pound range. You can add into the mix Dorado, Wahoo and even Pargos. If you are looking to catch some Marlin and Rooster fish they are in the area as well.

Lately, the weather has been nice and hot with temperature between the mid 90’s. No more wind or rain due to a Storm.

Fishing Report;

To start with, the fishermen that have been visiting us in the last few weeks have caught a large variety of fish like Pargo, Yellowtail, Tuna, Dorado, and Marlin.

All this fishing has been around or near the areas of the southern point of Isla Cerralvo, Punta Perico, and the southern area of Boca Del Alamo. We are using Squid and that has been a very good bait for catching the fish.

Crissy & Peter Teichmann and their group of friends were here fishing for 10 days in these areas and did very well. Hoyt Yee caught some Dorado using Cabrillas as bait and also caught some nice Pargo Also, the young Guscott caught a Yellowtail.

Matthew Lewis and Michael Coxin also caught some big Yellowtails, Dorados, and Tunas.
The weather is still very pleasant and great for fishing. We will be waiting for you as usual to come down and enjoy the fishing.

We have had very good fishing over the past weeks, we have caught a lot of nice Red Snapper, Dog Snapper and Amberjack. All of these bottom fish were caught at the Island and Punta Perico. Most anglers familiar with these areas have been producing good numbers of fish for several weeks. This week Tortuga anglers have been catching good numbers of Dorado and Tuna ranging from 30 to 50 lbs.

Rick Golbach hooked a big Amberjack, Ron Harris caught some nice Red Snapper, Bob Waddel with his friend Nufo caught some very nice Dog Snappers We also had a chance to fish with our friends Smithy and Glenn Allen, they have been fishing a lot in Loreto recently but decided to fish with us again. They had a great time catching Snapper with Capt. Rigo and Nufo.

We hope all anglers who missed fishing with us this past month have a chance to visit us this summer. The summer months always provide some big fish to challenge any angler - Wahoo, Tuna, Dorado, Roosterfish and Billfish are here waiting for a good fight!!

We had another great week for all of our guests at Tortuga enjoying our
June weather - 80 degrees and no wind all week.
Anglers Susy, Larry, Pete and Burt Klein caught Snappers and Cabrilla They also caught some good size Rooster Fish and Wahoo.
Grant Tomita and his group caught some big Dog Snappers, Wahoo, Rooster Fish
and Jack Crevelle.
Chris Ginocchio and Allen Foneca had great days as well catching lots of Dog Snapper
and Wahoo.
All of these fish were caught on Sardinas and Lady Fish at Punta Perico and south of
Cerralvo Island. The big Wahoos in the photos were all caught on trolled Rapalas.

Hola fisherman's we have few people visiting us this months hope more of you coming in the nexts months.We have very good weather low 70s. and high 80s no more wind afther easter week. we have been catching good size of pargos,yellowtail,wahoo as you can see in the pictures we show what we caought this days some of this fish were cought at Cerralvo,pargos at perico point.Our Cap.Rigo took out Manuel Carrisoza and he's girl frind Aracely from Guadalajara and they had very good fishing day with Mullet snapers and wahoo.

January 2010 brings us to our first fish report of 2010!
We do not have many anglers down here this time of year but the
weather is good and in the low 70's. We have had some windy days
but the fishing remains very good and with very little fishing pressure.
We have been catching a lot of Red Snapper, Cabrilla, and Wahoo.
The Snapper have been providing some good action just around Punta
Perico and Wahoo have been showing up south of Cerralvo Island.
Captain Enrique Sanchez caught 5 Wahoo from 40 to 60 pounds, while
Frank Quinones and Jerry Morrison caught Red Snapper, Cabrilla, Sierra
and Wahoo.

John Gimmie and Dean Mitchell from San Diego came down for the week of November 7-14 and encountered perfect weather, not too hot, not too windy.

They fished with Captain Nufo and had excellent results.

Sunday, after getting sardinas at the south end of the island, decided to troll the Roca Montana area for wahoo. By 10:30 they had 4, ranging from 30# to 50#. All were caught on Orange Rapala X-Raps and Purple Mirrolure 111's. They also caught some nice sized Sierra.

Monday, they stayed closer to home and caught 4 25# yellowfin right in front of Hotel Las Arenas. They closed out the day catching a few small Dorado on the buoys at the mouth of Muertos Bay.

Tuesday, they got bait and headed all the way up to punta norte (Cerralvo) where they scratched ouut a nice 30# Dorado, a big Sierra, then trolled Rapalas along the east side of the island for several tough Pargo (and busted off a few too—bring 60# line, minimum).

Thursday, the tide was slack, there was hardly any wind, and the fishing was slow. Nufo switched them over to Caballitos and slow trolled for a 120# Striped Marlin about a mile off Punta Perico. They got into several Dorado on the way in.

Friday, the wind came up and they decided to go after good-eating small snapper and Cabrilla close to home, off Punta Perico.

All in all, itt was another very good week of fishing and they took home a lot of fresh packed fish to eat all winter.

Paul Doty from Yorba Linda, CA and Bob Bergman from Long Beach, CA fished from October 15-18. We caught tuna up to 30 pounds near the Hotel Las Arenas and Punta Perico, and Dorado up to 18 pounds around the buoys out from Muertos. Dorado were also caught just off the rocks by the big houses. Bait was plentiful, as were Bonita for strip bait for Dorado. We found one school of Dorado on our last day that had an estimated 200 fish and we were the only ones working it for the brief 15 minute bite. The tuna pulled hard and wore out more than one set of drag washers. The weather was very pleasant, never to hot or humid, and the seas were flat and calm.

For the week of Sept. 19-28 fishing was primarily good for tuna and dorado. Schools of tuna were found near Punta Arena and the at the North end of Cerralvo Island. The tuna ranged from 20-30lbs with an occasional larger model. Dorado were mixed in and ranged
from 15-25lbs. The weather was calm and hot and the water temps ranged between 83-88 degrees. All the fish seem to be close to shore or at the island with a trip to the 88 bank producing nothing. Their seem to be a large number of fish in the area but the bite dies in the early afternoon.

Gerardo Hernandez of Tortuga Sportfishing at La Paz reported hot weather and calm seas for his pangas fishing on the Las Arenas side in improving conditions for dorado and small yellowfin tuna. At Ensenada de los Muertos, Boca del Alamo, and San Isidro, dorado of 15 to 25 pounds were caught.Yellowfin tuna of 15 to 30 pounds were caught at the south point of Isla Cerralvo, and larger tuna were seen chasing flying fish but would not bite on sardina baits.

LA PAZ PANGA--John Fraumeni and Gregory Garcia, both of Santa Ana, Calif., went out on a Tortuga Sportfishing panga on La Paz' Las Arenas side for a nice mixed catch of dorado and football yellowfin tuna.
