This week, Bill Evans from La Paz went fishing with our Captain Rigo and his apprentice, Eliseo . They headed out to the shark buoys on the east side of Cerralvo looking for bait. It didn't take long after putting small bonita on the hooks to have the first dorado in the panga. The fishing during the rest of the morning was just as rewarding, as they soon had there limit of dorado and decided to troll for marlin.
Only 30 minutes after putting on lures, the first marlin to a swipe at one of the lures, but didn't like what he saw. They only had to wait another 10 minutes, when another marlin decided he would like to have a snack. The fight was on.
The day ended with a young man getting his first marlin and limits of dorado. You couldn't have asked for anything better

This last week has been just like the others, . . . where is the bait? When our Captains were able to find the mackerel, the yellow tail were there to be had. Many boats returned to Los Muertos with limits of nice fish from 25 to 40 pounds. On days that the mackerel didn't want to co-operate, the Captains loaded-up with sardines and headed to the rocks for pargo, cabrilla and even grouper. The photos below show just how successful our clients were at filling the fish box.

From the 6th of February, the winds have been blowing and keeping most of the sane fishermen off the water. On Sunday the 17th, some of the commercial fishermen went out to try and locate the mackerel and yellowtail (jurel). As luck would have it, they found the bait and jurel in the same place they were at before the winds came up. The 3 or 4 commercial boats that went out that morning came home with fish boxes full. And the word spread.
The next morning, Bill Evans from Pa Paz and Gabino from Aqua Amarga, with Rigo as Captain, headed out at 6am to try their luck. The day turned out to be successful for both anglers, returning to the beach at Los Muertos with 6 beautiful yellowtail from 16 to 15 pounds. Both anglers had smiles on their faces and were discussing when they could make another trip.
Winds this time of year is the only thing that keeps anglers on the beach. The fish are here and if you have mackerel, you'll get fish. Getting them to the boat is another story.
One day after Bill and Gabino's trip, the winds came back and we are looking at probably another 5 to 7 days of rough water. We hope to have some more photos for you soon.
Jorge Santana also had good day with Rigo
cought 7 yellowtail, one dorado and sail fish.

This week our anglers caught a lot of Dorado in the 20-40 lb range
This week our anglers caught a lot of Dorado in the 20-40 lb range. The best action was in the Las Cruces area in between the beach front development to the south just before El Sargento. Slow trolled, Live Cocinero and cut Squid were the best approach for the larger Dorado but, a 40 lb leader was needed due to the constant Needlefish attacks. Small sardines were used to keep the fish near the boat - these were available from the bait fisherman in front of the Island.
Later in the week, the wind picked up and it was to dangerous for most Pangas to reach the Island, La Ventana, El Sargento and the Las Cruces area due to the large swells - if they launched from Muertos Bay. However, the large swells made for some very good Marlin and Sailfish fishing in between the lighthouse south towards Muertos Bay. Several nice Sailfish and Marlin were caught and spotted in this area throughout the end of the week. Slow trolledCocinero was the trick since trolling feathers or skirted lures was impossible due to the large swells. The wind is expected to die down by the end of the week so we are expecting next week to be a good one with mild weather, no wind and a lot of good size fish for our customers
