Gary Evans from Santa Ana, California, came down to spend his "Spring Vacation" with his brother Bill, who lives here in La Paz.  He spent a couple of days on the water fishing with our captain Rigo out of Los Muertos this week and had a great time.
On his first day, he returned to the beach with a nice limit of 2 good size dorado and caught his first ever wahoo.

On the second day, Gary and Bill returned to Los Muertos and again went out with Captain Rigo.  They were again rewarded with 4 nice dorado and a sierra for their efforts.   Another great day on the water.   Gary plans to spend another couple of days fishing with Captain Rigo during this coming week.

This report is for the Punta Arena/Cerralvo Island area. Small amounts of yellowtail are starting to show up but nothing significant yet. The water temperature is still warm at about 75 degrees and bait is limited. Dorado are still in the area and boats are having good luck bringing them in. The wahoo seem to have appeared at the south end of the island. Some boats were able to bring in a few each day. There wasn't much pressure from having a lot of boats trolling in the area so it made it more likely to land a few. The wahoo ranged from 30-50 lb. The weather has been nice, not much wind and warm. We will see what happens with the water temperature and bait, we need the water to cool down a bit, then hopefully the yellowtail will come this way.Crissy and Pete Teichman pictures.

This weeks fishing outside of La Paz around Punta Arena slowed a little bit from the previous week but still produced BIG Dorado around the buoys.  If you spent the time and headed out to hit the buoys on the way out to the 88 bank and a few miles past you would find yourself hooked up.  The fish seemed to be hanging off the buoys a bit and wouldn't hit the bait right away but if you spent a little time slow trolling you were bound to lure some big fish up.  The dorado weren't picky, they were eating pretty much whatever bait you could catch on the buoys.  Zebra, cocineromacks, cut strips of bonita and feathers all seemed to do the trick.  The hot ticket seemed to be the buoys just off the bank.  A lot of marlin are still cruising around and large schools of dolphin produced some yellowfin tuna which hopefully means the tuna will be showing up in large numbers.  Below are pictures of Crissy and Pete Teichmann from Huntington Beach with their catch this week.

This week, Bill Evans from La Paz went fishing with our Captain Rigo and his apprentice, Eliseo    .   They headed out to the shark buoys on the east side of Cerralvo looking for bait.   It didn't take long after putting small bonita on the hooks to have the first dorado in the panga.   The fishing during the rest of the morning was just as rewarding, as they soon had there limit of dorado and decided to troll for marlin.
Only 30 minutes after putting on lures, the first marlin to a swipe at one of the lures, but didn't like what he saw.   They only had to wait another 10 minutes, when another marlin decided he would like to have a snack.   The fight was on.
The day ended with a young man getting his first marlin and limits of dorado.   You couldn't have asked for anything better

This last week has been just like the others, . . . where is the bait? When our Captains were able to find the mackerel, the yellow tail were there to be had. Many boats returned to Los Muertos with limits of nice fish from 25 to 40 pounds. On days that the mackerel didn't want to co-operate, the Captains loaded-up with sardines and headed to the rocks for pargo, cabrilla and even grouper. The photos below show just how successful our clients were at filling the fish box.
